Muesli for Breakfast


Here’s a quick post…Breakfast!  I love oatmeal because it does fill me up and keeps me going for a while.  It’s a great way to start the day, especially when it’s cold outside.  If you’re going to have oatmeal, stay away from prepacked, quick oatmeal.  They are chock-full of preservatives and fillers.  Even if they say “natural”.  All this means from the FDA standpoint is that they can have something in the ingredients list that is natural.  It DOESN’T mean that it’s 100% natural unless it says so.  Even then, look at the ingredients list.

I love Musesli mix because it has a bit more fiber and whole grains.  The best is from the Hodgson Mill Company.  Their products to me stands for quality.  It’s a name that I have learned to trust.  Here’s a healthy breakfast to eat.   Take a look at the ingredients on this box and you’ll know what they are saying!  It’s simple.

Knowing this company and it’s products takes most of the guess-work out of eating healthy.  Now all that’s left is portion control.  Don’t think for one minute that you can fill your bowl up and call it a serving!  We have been kidding ourselves for years on this one.  Learn what is a portion and stick with it.  If you are a bigger guy, know that your body burns up more calories than the woman who weighs 130lbs.  Never go by the %.  It’s based on a 2000 calorie diet (assuming that’s how much you would burn up in a day).  To learn what your body burns up, you need to know how much you can eat and what those calories are.  Knowing portions is the start to that understanding.

This portion is 1/2 cup.  After I microwaved it for 2min. I added 1/4 cup 2% milk and 1 pkg of Nutrilite Fiber.  This gave me 8g total of Fiber.  You can also add Truvia (0 cal sweetener made from a plant-not a chemical base!)  I added a bit of pure maple syrup.  This “meal” will last me about 2 hours.   Then I’ll need more fuel!  Enjoy!
