I’ve been involved in Health and fitness most of my life!  I’ve always had a love for sports, lifting weights, and cardio fitness.

However, after delivering four kids and 12 years of marriage, I realized that I was no longer taking care of myself!  I was too busy taking care of everyone else (understandably :)).  It’s reasonable to think that four kids, 3 businesses, and a marriage meant putting myself on the back burner.  It’s  a mistake that many women make.  The problem though was, I was miserable!! I learned that If I didn’t take care of myself, I wasn’t any good for anyone else!  I had no energy, I couldn’t look in the mirror because I didn’t even recognize myself, and I was getting sick all the time!  I said enough!  Over the next year I focused in on losing weight and getting healthy (not just skinny).  I turned to what makes me who I am first–Jesus Christ.  How God looks at us is that we are Heirs and our bodies are temples!  He adores us!  So, who was I to let myself go so much?  I slowly regained my confidence in myself and in my abilities-gathering and giving encouragement along the way.  I lost 75 pounds in a little less than a year and kept it off for 12 years.  I know that it takes a lifestyle change NOT just a diet!  I got active!  I got involved physically!  I started volunteering and engaging in my life-giving time to myself.  I had to carve this out and stick to it not only for myself, but for those around me.I prayed and focused and surrounded myself with people who would encourage me in my quest to “uncover” myself again!  The support meant everything and it still does!  Getting with a group of “like minds” can be a real huge help!  It can mean the difference between the lifestyle change and just a fad–passing through our lives.  Also, writing down my goals-short and longer term was and  continues to be very important.  Writing down what I was doing gave me a “snapshot” of what habits I had in my life to create the results that I didn’t like.  From this, I could replace what was going on with healthier choices!I believe that anyone can achieve health and fitness.  It only takes a decision to engage in their lives again.  Being fit, getting and staying active, and learning to work with not against our own bodies can become a way of life!  What’s even more wonderful than adapting this way of life is doing it with others that we care about!

I just happened to come across this and I am so THRILLED AND IMPRESSED! with what I read so far…thank you SO MUCH for sharing, you have no idea how many people you help, whether they decide to make changes right away ? or find your journey inspirational in planting a seed to act on later…you ARE truly inspiring but I, for one, especially appreciate that you take the time from your life to share your life and your journey with us!
